“Keep the Smile”
On September 3, 2022, I suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. I was competing in the European Cup, and due to a miscalculation facing a natural obstacle, I fell. Paramedics immediately took care of me, leading to several surgeries before I was put into an induced coma.
Upon waking up, there was uncertainty about the possible aftereffects I might face. In the end, I experienced paralysis on the right side and lost my speech (which, fortunately, were less severe than initially feared). I’d like to emphasize that my right-side paralysis has almost completely subsided, and I’ve regained my speech.
After many weeks of rehabilitation, a period during which I had to remain positive and persevering, my sports doctor directed me to Holisquare to assist in adapting to my slightly impaired vision and resuming competitions.
With Holisquare, I rigorously worked on my sight, coordination, reflexes, reactivity, attention, and even balance. We combined focus on vision and physical training, all within a determinedly optimistic environment, constantly looking for strategies for my return to competition. This comeback is going quite well, especially thanks to the relentless work on visual adaptation I carried out with Fabien.
The journey ahead is still long and at times exhausting to get back to my previous level, but I won’t give up. And above all, I never forget to keep the smile!
